My Recovery ExperienceHelpful links: The program | The Products | The DietI'm a New PersonI started the diet and the supplements in May 1995. (The supplements included the yeast-busters (called Formula SF-722 by Thorne Manufacturing), beta carotene for my poor night vision, calcium, LG (made by Nature's Way) for my sluggish gall bladder, something for my ovaries, and copper for my tender breasts.) Four days into the diet (yes, four days) I could see better when driving at night. I had always had a night vision problem, and I worked nights at a community college in the Rocky Mountains. I came home at 10 pm and excitedly exclaimed "I can see! I can see!" It was thrilling. But that really didn't have anything to do with candida I don't think, it was because my doctor had recommended that I take beta carotene. About ten days into the program I was visibly healthier. My color had returned. I actually had rosy cheeks! At about Day 22, the yeast started pouring out of me then, into the toilet. I was eliminating it with my stools and urine. I remember for a couple of days that I actually felt worse because my body was going through such a cleanse. But boy, was that ever rewarding. Just knowing that stuff was being eliminated was euphoric. Weight Loss a BonusAnd I lost weight, which was a bonus. I wasn't terribly large, only a size 10 but with a large rear end. And getting larger and larger every year. My large butt was always my lifelong lament. So when it started to disappear, you can imagine my excitement! I lost weight, and lost and lost. Sometimes a pound a day. In the end I lost 24 pounds. I went from size 10+ to size 4-5. When I would leave the bathroom, I turn sideways in the mirror and admire the fact that I no longer had a huge butt. ConclusionFor me, this was a 30-40 day program. Imagine. All those years of suffering, and I could get well with a one-month program. I still can't get over it today, and that's why I made this document for you. But please, PLEASE, please, this is MY experience and it's what worked for ME. It's not a one-size-fits-all program for every person. You MUST be tested for allergies & intolerances, you MUST determine if you have a sluggish thyroid, parathyroid, parotid, adrenals, gall bladder, liver, kidney, etc. You MAY NOT have the same success as I had if you do not see the same naturopath I saw, IN PERSON. He is not a psychic! He cannot diagnose you by email or over the phone. He does not charge a lot for his office visit and he does all the testing right there & then in the first (and sometimes only) visit. He is in Northern Idaho, in the USA. I live in Canada and it's quite a distance for me to get there, but it was well worth the effort. UPDATE: Dr. Piller passed away in the summer of 2015. His partners still operate the Naturopathic Center. I should add here that there are many naturopaths out there who believe they have a solution for candida, and the reason that it seldom works (and hardly ever in a 30-day program!) is because the prescribed pre-packaged herbs have mold. Remember that on this program you can't have any mold, and several foods should be eaten HOT (and are best avoided). The product I took to keep the candida at bay while I was dieting was Formula SF722 by Thorne Manufacturing, and is available in the United States, Canada, England and New Zealand. In my opinion, everything else is a waste of time. I speak from the experience of having wasted TEN YEARS of my life looking for a solution and some "magic pill". I tried the health food store suggestions, and you all know the ones I mean. I won't name them here. There is NO CURE for candida at this time. Candida thrives on a lowered immune system and you need to find out why YOUR body has it, and get to the root of the problem. You may try the diet & SF722 product and have the same good fortune as I did, but many people who try this on their own just cannot get to the ultimate recovery without seeing Dr. Piller's office in person. The missing component in their recovery can be anything from a sluggish parathyroid to a food allergy, and this is VERY common. I am not professing any medical knowledge, PLEASE do not berate me for trying to simply share my own experience with the world. My naturopath saved my life, and made me whole again. I shall forever be grateful that he had the answer to MY candida problem. A Word on Weight LossI was so excited at having lost my big butt that I specifically asked Dr. Piller how I could keep my weight down. He said, and I quote, "stay away from grains". My hubby and I looked at each other in wonderment and exclaimed "grains???" Grains are fattening, and if you don't believe it, think about this: What do you feed a pig when you want to fatten him up? To keep my weight off I eat very little bread, potatoes, rice or pasta. I do eat it, I just eat it in small quantities and very seldom. A low-carbohydrate diet seems to work faster and better than a low-fat diet, and that's just my experience. And on a low-carbohydrate diet you don't have to count calories. Now that I am no longer on the candida program, I eat anything I want, including chocolate, cake, cookies, chips, etc. I keep the grains to a minimum. When the weight starts creeping back on (like on holidays), I just cut back on the starchy stuff. Works for me!
